Exquisite Mohair Throws (aka Mohair Blankets)

For an exquisitely luxurious gift, it is hard to go past a Mohair Throw.

While they may sound like something from a Dr Zuess book, Mohair Throws are simply Mohair blankets, which are woven from mohair, the silky 'hair' of a Angora goat.

Mohair is one of the oldest textiles in use, and is very special. Compared to wool, it is incredibly light, with fantastic insulating qualities, but without the "prickle" factor that wool has. It is reknown for its glossy sheen, and it takes dye easily.

So the results are blankets (or throws) in a fantastic array of colours from bold to neutral, which are silky, light and beautifully warm.

But Mohair does cost a little more, so beware of blended throws, which are not pure mohair. We sell only 100% pure NZ mohair, in a great range of single colours, or throws featuring huge checks.

We have a couple in our home, and they are fantastic on the bed as the nights get cooler, and silky to snuggle under on the couch.

It is no surprise we sell so many as wedding gifts; a gift which will be treasured for years.
